“Grandma called him Tamihana but he was tame to us and Tom in the city.”

He changes his name where he is because when he’s with his family tame is just a little nickname his family uses but in the city when he uses Tom to fit in with the white names.

He uses Tom because it’s an easy to pronounce name and super easy to spell and it’s a common white name that is similar to his real name.

The three different names represent the same person but with a different name Tamihana is his real name but his family uses Tame as a little nickname and Tom in the city for a more white name to fit in.

this week we are practising reciprocal reading. we work together in groups to understand a text. we all have roles discussion leader, predictor , questioner , clarifier  and  summariser.

Today I was discussion leader. It was fun because I didn’t have to do much work but I still helped and did what I needed to do.

Working in a group was interesting because I didn’t like it to much but I didn’t mind the people I was with so it was fine. When I do this again I will pick a different role to see how to do it that way.

This is about the possession of Maori land and how different the treaty’s are.

One girl two cultures big heart 

I wrote this because it matches the girl from the text. She is from two different cultures and has a big heart by trying to be Samoan with other Samoans and 

Palagi with other people so she wont get teased for her cultures.

For most of this week we have been making plays.

We wrote a small scrip and AI made most of the rest.

It was very fun practicing and making the props we needed.

I was in a group with 5 other people. The roles in the play were The Queen, Princess, Lazy Chef, dog, Evil Maid (me).

We had a very fun time doing this and performing it.

I would love to do it again, it was very fun and I loved it.

Today we made Christmas decorations I made a bauble. I made it carefully and when I fished I added some silver glitter paint that made it shine when the light went on it.

I made one big bauble and other people made lots of smaller sized ones or a Christmas tree.

People lots of patterns and colors some did simple designs and some did really hard ones.

This was very fun I would love to do it again next year.

this week are create task was to weave  Harakeke into a rope. It was hard at first but I got the hang of it i loved doing it so much it made me feel good for my first time braiding and weaving.

it was very fun I would like to do it again.
